Existing offset markets rely on habitat proxies — acres of grass planted, trees established per hectare. These measure land cover, not biological outcomes. A site can hit every proxy target while its target species remain absent. Habitat area is not biodiversity.
Biodivex resolves the measurement problem at the source: environmental DNA sequencing detects which species are present, and acoustic indices quantify soundscape diversity. The result is a credit backed by organism-level evidence, not land-management assumptions.
How Biodivex Works

A rigorous three-stage process combines molecular ecology with acoustic science to produce credits backed by biological evidence, not land-management assumptions.
STEP 01
eDNA Sampling
Water filtration and soil core collection at enrolled sites. Environmental DNA is extracted and sequenced against reference databases to identify which species are present — not just which habitats exist.
STEP 02
Acoustic Survey
Weatherproof acoustic recorders deployed across the site capture the soundscape. Acoustic Complexity Index (ACI), Bioacoustic Index (BIO), and NDSI values are computed to quantify ecosystem vitality.
STEP 03
BHI Score & Credit Issuance
eDNA completeness, species richness, and acoustic diversity are combined into a Biodiversity Health Index (BHI) score. Credits meeting the Verified threshold (70+) are listed on the marketplace with full documentation.

eDNA sequencing consistently detects higher species counts than visual survey protocols — including cryptic, rare, and nocturnal species that transect surveys routinely miss.
