Six stages from site enrollment to credit listing. Every step is documented and auditable. For Verified and Premium tier credits, an independent ecologist review is required before issuance.
Six-Stage Verification Protocol
Site Eligibility Review
Parcel GIS data reviewed against minimum criteria: habitat type, contiguous area, absence of active remediation. Site pre-approval issued within 5 business days.
Sampling Design & Deployment
Field team designs transect layout and AudioMoth array deployment plan based on site topology. Acoustic sensors deployed; eDNA collection kits shipped to land manager or collected by field team.
Field Collection Window
30-day acoustic recording period. Water filtration (aquatic) or soil core (terrestrial) collection at designated transect points. Chain-of-custody documentation maintained from collection through lab receipt.
Laboratory Analysis
DNA extraction, PCR amplification with COI/16S/12S primers, and Illumina sequencing at a partner laboratory. Reads filtered for quality, clustered into OTUs, and matched against reference databases. Results returned within 14 days of receipt.
BHI Computation & Independent Audit
BHI score computed from four weighted components. For Verified (70+) and Premium (85+) tiers, the full input dataset — sequencing reads, OTU assignments, acoustic index time series, and BHI computation spreadsheet — is submitted to an independent field ecologist for review. The auditor confirms species identifications, checks for data quality flags, and validates the BHI arithmetic. Audit typically completes in 5–7 business days. The signed audit report is included in the buyer's documentation package and is not redacted. Standard tier (60–69) credits do not require independent audit.
Credit Issuance & Marketplace Listing
Credits assigned serial numbers, registered in the Biodivex credit registry, and listed on the marketplace. Land manager notified. Documentation package assembled and held in escrow for buyer delivery upon purchase.
