Field Ecologist — eDNA Specialist
Full-time · Portland, OR (field travel ~40%)Conduct eDNA water filtration and soil core collection at enrolled sites across Oregon and the broader Pacific Northwest. Spring and autumn sampling windows (~4 weeks each); remaining time on sample preparation, chain-of-custody documentation, and field protocol development. Experience with environmental sampling protocols required; hands-on eDNA collection experience strongly preferred. Reports to Marcus Okafor, Head of Field Science. Travel approximately 40% during active windows.
Bioinformatics Analyst
Full-time or Part-time contract · RemoteMaintain and extend the Biodivex amplicon processing pipeline: DADA2-based denoising, ASV generation, OTU-to-species taxonomic assignment, and quality filtering against the PNW reference library. Curate the reference database as new barcode submissions are published. Produce per-sample species detection reports with confidence metrics. Python and R proficiency required; hands-on experience with COI, 16S, and 12S metabarcoding datasets essential. Can be structured as contract engagement for the right candidate.
